Departmental
Honors Requirements - The updated graduation with Honors have been put in place for all majors.
All students must go through a planning process in order to review what is necessary for Junior-Senior (Latin) Honors. For students previously admitted to Honors, they must: 1) file the Junior/Senior Honors Program form to the Honors office; 2) meet with an HCLA advisor; 3) meet with their departmental honors representative. This process should provide better communication for students and departments. -Thank you in advance for your assistance meeting with students and helping the connect to research and curriculum options.
Students who have not been admitted to Honors will complete a similar process, but will need to be reviewed for eligilbility and ability to complete Honors prior to graduation. (This process includes a written goals statement.)
Students already enrolled in Honors will be under their previous college requirements after college questions are moved to UHP. Students wanting to enter UHP fall of 2008 or later will need to meet University Honors Program requirements.

This is a competitive process for academically talented students, pursuing a CLA degree and plan to complete a minimum of two semesters as a full-time student. Descriptions of the awards can be found here. This year workshops have been provided to discuss the application process and to help students understand some of the things that committees consider.
The Selmer Birkelo Scholarship, one of the college's most prestigious awards, begins its selection process with this application as well. The Directors of Undergraduate Studies in eligible departments will be sent the complete applications of potential nominees for nomination consideration shortly after the closing date (January 30, 2006) for student applications. Instructions will be included in the mailing. (Last year's letter is provided here for your information.)
